ABSTRACT
Nowadays, the demand for electricity is increasing despite common interest in energy efficient solutions. To meet the users’ needs, more and more new coal-fired power plant units are being launched. This causes the release of significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other environmental-damaging compounds into the atmosphere. To limit this practice, we need to start using as much as possible renewable energy sources such as wind, solar radiation, midland water energy, geothermal energy etc. The purpose of the work was to analyze the potential of the Lublin Province for the production of electricity from renewable sources. This work presents the data such as average solar radiation, wind speed or river water flow in the region of Lublin. Based on this information’s, calculations of theoretical power that could be obtained from these sources. The results obtained show how a small area in relation to the entire Lubelskie Voivodeship could be used to build power plants using renewable sources to meet the demand for electricity.
