ABSTRACT
One of the problems associated with the design of landfill sites is the determination of the amount and type of waters created in their areas. The largest share in the water balance of large landfills has precipitation, forming surface runoffs. The purpose of the work was to analyze the possibilities of rainwater disposal and management from the active landfill site, on the example of a municipal waste landfill in Bogatynia. In order to determine the amount of rainwater that needs to be discharged from the landfill site, an inventory was made of its area. Due to the possibility of contamination due to emissions associated with deposited waste, it was assumed that only clean water will be used, discharged from surfaces that are not in contact with waste. The amount of surface runoff was determined using commonly used models. On the basis of the conducted analyzes, technical solutions were proposed, allowing for the collection and utilization of rainwater, within the company's boundaries, or for draining the excess into the ground.
