ABSTRACT
Presented in the paper are results of 2-year studies on treating rural sewage in soil-plant environment utilizing Sida hermaphrodita (L.) Rusby. Due to significant growth of biomass this plant is used for energy purposes. Rapid growth causes significant demand for water and nutrients. Due to their properties, such plants can be useful in processes of biological sewage treatment. The maximum amount of biogenic components discharged with Sida stalks was 270 kgN•ha-1 •year and 74,3 kgP•ha-1 •year. The amount of nitrogen and phosphorus collected and discharged yield of plants depends on the dose of the components supplied with sewage and is increases with the age of plants and their yield.
